Trademark monitoring service that watches new filings for you
Short answer
A trademark monitoring service compares new applications in trademark registries with your marks and alerts you when a similar one appears, so you can oppose it before the opposition window closes. Trademarking checks new filings daily and shows a similarity score.
- Opposition windows are short: 30 days in the US, 2 months in the UK, 3 months at the EUIPO.
- Each alert shows similarity, office, class, status and the deadline to act.
- Watch services from law firms are typically priced per mark per year.
Why registration alone is not enough
Offices do not stop every similar application for you. The EUIPO and the UK IPO do not refuse a later mark because of your earlier one on their own motion; they rely on the owner to oppose. The USPTO does search its register, but a mark it misses is published and the 30 day opposition window starts.
Miss that window and the remaining route is cancellation, which is slower and costs more. Monitoring exists to catch the application while opposing is still cheap. Read how the trademark opposition process works by office.
What an alert looks like
An alert reads like this example: "A potentially conflicting mark was filed yesterday in Germany, Similarity 91%". Open it and you see the mark, the applicant, the Nice classes, the status, a link to the official record and the date the opposition window closes.
- Word similarity: spelling, sound and shared distinctive parts are scored separately.
- Class overlap: identical and related classes are weighted, so a cosmetics mark is flagged against a soap filing.
- Thresholds per mark: set your own minimum similarity to keep alerts relevant.
- Digest by email in your working hours, plus the alert inbox in the app.
How many marks each plan watches
Monthly billing is also available at 99, 299 and 999 USD. Not sure yet whether your own mark is safe to file? Start with a trademark availability check.
| Plan | Watched marks | Price billed yearly |
|---|---|---|
| Founder | 3 | 49 USD per month |
| Business | 25 | 149 USD per month |
| Agency | 250 | 499 USD per month |
Frequently asked questions
- How often are registries checked?
- New filings are compared with your watched marks after each registry update, typically daily for the offices whose data we ingest, and alerts are grouped into one digest.
- Can I watch a mark that is not registered yet?
- Yes. You can watch a pending application or even a name you have not filed, which is useful during the months before registration.
- Does monitoring file the opposition for me?
- Monitoring finds the conflict and shows the deadline. The opposition workflow then helps you prepare the notice; filing is done by you or by a partner attorney where the office requires one.
- Does it watch domain names or marketplaces?
- Monitoring covers trademark registries. Marketplace and domain watching are not part of the service.
